Jane Hyde MCSP Member of HPC, AACP, Physio First, ACPAT, VN.
I qualified from Bristol Physiotherapy School, in 1990, after which I then worked for the NHS, gaining valuable experience in many of the different Physiotherapy disciplines before specialising in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, in particular, neck and back pain, soft tissue, sports injuries and foot biomechanics. I have developed a busy private Physiotherapy Clinic over the past 21 years, which for the past twelve years has been based in Lamerton, near Tavistock, and now includes Lamerton and Tavistock Physiotherapy Clinics. Along side my human Physiotherapy interests I am a founding member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy and regularly treat horses and dogs for back and related problems.
Post graduate studies have included a Diploma in Cyriax Orthopaedic Medicine, all levels of the McKenzie Back Care Institute, Muscle Energy Technique Seminars and a keen interest in the use of Pilates Exercise Therapy. I am a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
When not working at the clinic, I lead a busy life as a mother of two children who attend Tavistock College. I also assist my husband in the running of his equine veterinary clinic, and whenever possible, persue my life long passion of horse riding. We love the outdoors, frequently spending time walking, cycling, canoeing or at the coast.

Carmel Marner MCSP Member of HPC, BPhty, HPC reg, MASO, QLD SRP.
I have over 18 years of physio experience, having worked in Australia, the USA, Nepal, and the UK. Since completing my training in Brisbane, Australia, I have gained a wealth of experience in a range of physical therapies, including all aspects of musculoskeletal manual therapy, acupuncture, Core stability and Pilates type exercise therapy .
I have a special interest in working in partnership with overweight & obese clients, enabling them to overcome their barriers to being more active. I am currently part of the Plymouth NHS Weight Management Team.
My most challenging job is as a Mother of two energetic youngsters. I am a great outdoor enthusiast, & one of my greatest experiences has been trekking to Everest Base Camp. My husband frequently takes part in Mountain marathons & adventure races, and as back up crew to these events I often finds myself Physio for any sporting injuries.
I recently did the OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) with my husband, a 2 day event and was thrilled with our placing of 77th out of 176 teams.

Since qualifying from the University of Hertfordshire in 2006 and becoming a Chartered Physiotherapist, I have gained a huge amount of experience working within private practice, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological problems, as well as through working within the sporting arena. I have also worked in the corporate sector in central London giving advice to employees regarding ergonomics and posture, completed Desk, Screen, Surface and Environment Assessments and taught lunch time Pilates classes.
I gained my Pilates qualifications with the APPI and have previously taught Pilates classes….up to 12 classes per week. The two per week now is much more manageable! In addition to Pilates, I am also qualified in the use of acupuncture for pain relief and musculoskeletal disorders, and I am a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
I have a special interest in the treatment, management and prevention of sports injuries and for five years I spent my Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as Saturdays working with rugby players; initially a local amateur team and then in a semi-professional environment at Launceston. As well as rugby, I have worked at the London marathon, the Hertfordshire youth games and the Bedford half marathon.
Since moving to Cornwall in 2008 I have achieved a good work life balance, combining 3 part time jobs with my horse called ‘Mouse’ and my mad Springer ‘Bexie’. My greatest achievement so far has to be completing the London marathon in 2006. Although not in record breaking time, I did raise £3,000 for charity.

I qualified from The London Hospital in 1981, since then I have specialised in musculoskeletal injuries with particular interest in necks, backs and shoulders. I have been fortunate to move round the country working for the NHS and privately. I had my own private clinics in the North East for 8 years but on moving to Nottingham in 1999 until 2010 gained an interest in occupational physiotherapy and ergonomics. I worked with Toyota as a specialist physiotherapist before becoming physiotherapy manager with a large occupational health company. During this time I studied for a Post Grad Cert in workplace Ergonomics at Nottingham University and I am now on the national executive of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics. I enjoy the opportunity of looking at the workplace to ensure that it allows healthy working. This is an area I look forward to developing with Tavistock Physiotherapy Clinic and Lamerton Physiotherapy Clinic.
We had the opportunity to move to Launceston in August 2010 which has allowed us to pursue our love of the outdoors, especially the coast.

I decided at a young age that I wanted to become a physiotherapist, after my lovely brother dropped a bale of hay on my head from 10 foot high! Needless to say I spent a lot of time with my physiotherapist and I was sold – this was the career for me. After realising my dream and completing a BSc in Physiotherapy at Coventry university, I spent a year working for the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, where I spent time on the wards and seeing outpatients. A move to the south west was on the cards and I was offered a position at Derriford hospital being quickly promoted to a Senior rotational Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapist. During my 3 and a half years at working at Derriford I rotated to local GP practices and spent 9 months working with the pain management programme. I also spent two seasons working with Ivybridge rugby club which complemented the work I was doing in the NHS. I made the decision to transfer to the private sector 14 months ago so I would be able to fit hours to suit patients and also my hectic life outside of work which includes looking after horses, surfing, running and spending time with friends and family.
I have trained with the Australian physiotherapy and Pilates institute becoming a qualified pilates trainer and have attended specific training in Pilates for Horse Riders. I also have a strong interest in cognitive behavioural therapy and how certain aspects of this can be used to compliment physiotherapy.
